Indiana Michigan Power

Dear Friends,

During 2019, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing firsthand how Indiana Michigan Power employees volunteer in their communities. Our employees are invested in where they live and are committed to making their communities better places.

In addition to the time our employees volunteered in the community, I&M provided nearly $2.3 million in support of charitable nonprofits and economic development initiatives in 2019.

Our employee efforts are spread across our entire service area, including Fort Wayne, where employees came together to support the programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana by fundraising and joining together to Bowl for Kids’ Sake. In South Bend and Muncie, where employees helped decorate a community center and zoo for the holidays. In southwest Michigan, where our Cook Plant and other Michigan employees participated in Rake A Difference Day as part of our partnership with United Way of Southwest Michigan. And across our service territory, where numerous employees gave food baskets, gifts and donations to Toys for Tots and Salvation Army’s Angel Tree for the holidays.

Educating children and youth about safety around electricity and about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) is important to us. A number of employees visited more than 400 classrooms across our service territory in 2019, teaching nearly 10,000 students about electricity. We also helped support the Norwell Middle School Team that won the national Future City Competition.

A cornerstone of I&M’s community connection is our partnership with the United Way. Along with our corporate sponsorship, our employees volunteered their own time and donated tens of thousands of dollars to local United Way chapters across our service area.

In addition to I&M and our employees, the AEP Foundation has provided $1.7 million in support to many nonprofits in our communities, including a food pantry and the South Bend Potawatomi Zoo’s STEM classroom.

Our I&M family embraces opportunities to serve. It may be when we’re out during a storm restoring power, or when we’re updating our infrastructure to better serve our customers or when we’re volunteering alongside our neighbors to make our communities a better place to live and work.
